Challenge:

During the pandemic, K-12 and higher education all went online. This created an entirely new way of learning, and teachers had to adapt quickly, relying on video calling products that had never been tested at this scale. They quickly realized they needed more out of their video calling tools.

Approach:

I designed and executed on foundational research on video calling experiences for users in education and those leading large webinars.

I conducted remote in-depth interviews with teachers and administrators in Australia, Philippines, US, and UK, followed by large-scale surveys to similar groups.

Result:

This research helped inform new product development, and led to improved features in the video calling product teachers used, like waiting rooms, annotations, call controls, and adaptive screen layout.
